But they unexpectedly found themselves discussing clothes instead when Beckett was shown his outfit for the appearance...and Widdicombe arrived wearing the same thing.

Posting on Instagram, Beckett shared the moment they had realised their fashion faux pas, captioning it: "This is a nightmare."

Wearing matching pink t-shirts, dark jackets and trousers, and white trainers, Widdicombe told host Lorraine Kelly: "It’s been a mistake, I turned up in this outfit and Rob’s face dropped."

Beckett said: "I wanted to wear this and I’m not going to let someone else’s clothes stop me. Everyone needs a thing, and our thing is when we appear in public we wear the same clothes."

But Widdicombe added: "It’s humiliating! I’m never wearing this again."

The pair went on to discuss their parenting book and podcast, saying that they liked to share stories of parenting fails to take the pressure off other mums and dads.

Widdicombe said: "Every time it’s going badly don’t be too harsh on yourself because you could be us. You could be dressed like we are on Lorraine."

He added of seeing the studio's screens: "That screen’s in my eyeline, every time it cuts to us I’m like what, this is awful! It’s like a fever dream."

Beckett joked: "We look like we could be doing Eurovision together."

As their segment on the show ended, Beckett said to Widdicombe: "Right, we’re going to go shopping. What do you want to wear tomorrow?"
