Humpback Whale Joins Dolphins in 'Joyful' Chase

A Long Island photographer captured a humpback whale and a pod of dolphins swimming together off the coast of Southampton, New York, on October 3.

Joanna Steidle of Hampton Drones told Storyful that she’d been filming the humpback feeding for an hour, 200 yards off the coast, when the dolphins arrived. The humpback quickly joined them, and in the footage, dolphins are seen leaping out of the water in front of the whale.
