Hundreds of Fans Cheer on Messi as He Leaves Barcelona Club

Soccer great Lionel Messi was greeted by hundreds of well-wishing fans as he left Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium after publicly announcing his departure at a press conference on August 8.

During his tearful goodbye, Messi described his gratitude to “so many” people at the club, and said leaving was “difficult for me after so many years, after being here my entire life. I’m not ready for this.”

In this video, taken by Barcelona Club fan Daniel Canton Bolanos, Messi is seen leaving the stadium in his car, accompanied by his wife, as fans shout their gratitude to the football player and yell “forever Messi!”

Barcelona said his departure was due to financial constraints, and the club’s inability to keep Messi and stay within La Liga’s FFP regulations.
