Hundreds Line Up to Buy Face Masks in Daegu Suburb

A line of hundreds of people hoping to buy face masks stretched around a block in South Korea’s coronavirus-stricken Daegu city on March 3.

Long lines for face masks have become a frequent sight in the city, where more than 4,000 of the country’s 5,621 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

According to Yonhap, an estimated one million of the government’s daily supply of five million masks is distributed to Daegu and areas within the surrounding North Gyeongsang province. Locals must queue up at post offices and pharmacies to receive their supply. This footage shows the line outside the Buk Daegu Post Office in Guam-dong, a northern suburb of the city.
