Hundreds Line Up to Be Inked With Manchester Bee

Hundreds of Mancunians waited for hours outside tattoo parlours on Friday, May 26, to be inked with the city’s symbolic worker bee in a gesture of defiance after the concert attack at the start of the week.

Tattoo artists announced the appeal shortly after the attack with all money raised going towards the Manchester Arena Victim’s Fund.

This footage shows people queuing outside the Holier Than Thou parlour, which was overwhelmed by the demand but said it would offer a free piercing to all those it could not accommodate.

The bee is a motif symbolising the city’s work ethic and dates back to the industrial revolution. Credit: Twitter/Gwladys Bonnassie via Storyful
