Hundreds turn out to remember seven-year-old a decade on from his passing

The ninth annual charity day to remember a seven-year-old High Wycombe boy who died of cancer recently took place.

The event, which was held at the town’s Lido on Saturday, June 29, was in remembrance of Ryan Ninan.

The young boy, who was also known as Kithu, died in February 2014 after being diagnosed with Pontine Glioma 10 months before.

Following his sad passing at a very young age, his family and friends decided to launch the Ryan Ninan Children’s Charity to help youngsters in both the UK and India fight the disease.

And in the recent event at the end of last month, people turned up in their hundreds to take part in football matches, a superhero race, as well as enjoy face paints, messages, and Mehandi.

A statement on their website reads: “Our main aim is to support House HospiceIan Rennie nursing teamKamran’s ward at J R Hospital Oxford, children undergoing treatment at the Regional Cancer Centre in Trivandrum, India during the first year.

“The purposes of the charity are to assist in the treatment and care of children suffering from cancer mainly brain tumour, or in need of rehabilitation as a result of such illness, by the provision of advice, funding and support.”
