Menopause marks a significant change in a woman's life — but 'the change' doesn't happen overnight.

This natural phase typically occurs when a woman is in her late 40s or early 50s, when her ovaries gradually reduce the production of estrogen and progesterone, bringing her monthly cycle to a halt. But it causes more changes than just the end of her periods.

Women may have skin/hair changes, sleep disturbances, mood swings, and a changing metabolism/weight fluctuations. The decrease in estrogen can affect bone density, potentially increasing the risk of osteoporosis.

But one common symptom that can cause discomfort, particularly in warmer weather, is hot flashes. The sudden feeling of heat that can spread throughout the body can leave menopausal women feeling sweatier than usual, which can cause a change in body odour.

If you struggle with this symptom, a hygiene expert has shared her top tips for tackling it. Mary Futher, who goes by Madame Sweat, takes to social media to share her tips and tricks for household jobs and personal hygiene.

In a video, which has gained more than 15,000 views, she explained: "If you've experienced body odour during menopause. Oh, you're not alone. Hot flashes are going to cause odour coming from all new places that start in the morning.

"You got to prepare for that hot flash fight. This is my hot flash toolkit. I start with an underarm bar foot and in the groin as well. This has salt and apple cider vinegar and is naturally antibacterial. And I scrub those underarms like crazy before I put that deodorant on.

"This and a sweat powder is my friend. I keep this in my purse because I apply it at all the places and make sure that I've got something to grab that moisture during the day. I know menopause is very difficult, but just be prepared."

Women immediately flooded the comments on TikTok with their praise for her tips. One user said: "I love all your content. Thank you."

Another added: "I need to send this to my friend." Meanwhile, a third commented: "For me, during menopause, I used to sweat excessively thru my head and scalp."
