Michael Pugh

Michael Pugh, of Cross Street West, Colne, and formerly of Oswaldtwistle, passed away on Saturday, June 15, aged 49 years.

In his youth Micky attended Rhyddings High School and since then over the years has worked for a few different companies doing labouring and warehouse work.

At the weekend and in his spare time he loved listening to music, watching the football as well as films and also socialising with friends. He was also good at drawing and could pretty much turn his hand to most things.

A dearly loved son of Ina, a much loved dad of Leon and Corey, a treasured brother of Sue, a dear brother in law of Mick and a loving uncle to Kiera and Liam.

Micky will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

His funeral service was held on Friday, June 28, at Accrington Crematorium.

Patricia Elizabeth Smith

Patricia Elizabeth Smith, of Hereford Close, Accrington, died peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, June 19, aged 74 years.

Known fondly to many as Penny, during her life, Penny served in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps and then stayed in nursing as a carer for the rest of her career.

In her spare time, she was a devoted member and the welfare officer of the Accrington Branch of the Royal British Legion as well as a member of Gateway Church.

She also enjoyed sewing and working for two local charities, Bleakholt and the British Heart Foundation.

She sadly leaves behind her dearly loved children Samantha and Philip, her son-in-law John and daughter in law Sharee, as well as her treasured grandchildren James, Sarah, Abigail and Isabella and great granddaughter Sadie-Maeve.

Penny will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 9.40am, on Thursday, July 4, at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, with those attending being invited to wear a splash of purple.

Susan Cunliffe

Mrs Susan Elizabeth Cunliffe, of Hollins Lane, Baxenden, passed away on June 15, aged 68 years.

Susan had been a nurse at Accrington Victoria Hospital and then became a carer at Abbeydale Care Home.

She volunteered at Age UK. Susan liked to listen to music, her favourites being Tom Jones, Westlife and Boyzone.

She also liked watching television, particularly the soaps. Susan was a loving daughter of the late Les and Irene and loving sister to the late John and the loving mum to James and Gemma. She also adored all her cousins.

Susan’s funeral will take place at 10.20am on Thursday, July 4, followed by a burial at Immanual Church, New Lane, Oswaldtwistle.
