Early enthusiasm around the Hyperloop idea from Elon Musk has waned in terms of public conversation, but several companies are still working hard to make the next-gen, high-speed transportation option a reality.

To date, we've mostly seen concept drawings and prototype capsules, but now a new video, released on Sunday, delivers a more tangible vision of what the Hyperloop One system might be like when it's finally completed and in operation.

Mixing real world footage with concept imagery, the video offers a tantalizing vision of what might be the one of the first Hyperloop systems to launch.

In the video (above), one graphic claims that, when finished, the Hyperloop One system will allow travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in just 12 minutes, a trip that currently takes about two hours by car.

However, a flawless Hyperloop One launch in the future isn't guaranteed, as Hyperloop One has suffered some growing pains in recent months. Its high-profile chief technology officer, Brogan BamBrogan, stepped down and filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the company earlier this year.

What the real future of Hyperloop One turns out to be remains to be seen but, for now, the company's aspirational video offers hope that it might eventually make Musk's system a reality, despite the doubts of some skeptics.

The company plans to make a major new announcement regarding the future of the Hyperloop project on Nov. 8.
