Illan Meslier is wanted by Marseille, according to multiple reports. Reports in France yesterday suggested the Ligue 1 side are keen to bolster their goalkeeping department and have expressed an interest in the Leeds United star.

A Daily Mail report says the Whites want a fee in excess of £20m for the Frenchman, who has made 175 appearances for the club since moving to Elland Road from FC Lorient in 2020. Meslier still has two more years left to run on his United contract.

The 24-year-old played a big part in the Whites' promotion push last term, keeping an impressive 21 clean sheets in 49 matches across all competitions. United are widely expected to sell some of their best players in the summer transfer window after failing to secure an instant Premier League return.

The Daily Mail report states that out-of-contract Fulham shot-stopper Marek Rodak is on the Whites' shortlist as a potential Illan Meslier replacement. Rodak is poised to leave Craven Cottage at the end of the month following the expiry of his current deal.

A report from La Provence claims Meslier is keen to leave United and is said to be in "contact" with Marseille. Meslier has had his critics at Elland Road but boss Daniel Farke is a big fan of the player. He described Meslier as the "best" goalkeeper outside the top flight following his outstanding showing in their win at Leicester City last November.

Farke said: “His potential without any doubt. He can be any goalkeeper at one point. Unbelievably young. Important to play with confidence. Has the skills to play out from the back. Needs confidence for this, but his potential is outstanding.

"A diamond like him has to be backed. Young goalkeepers will make mistakes, but this has to be expected. Best goalkeeper in the league.”
