The rules of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! not only include camping in the jungle, taking part in trials and helping to clean out the dunny.

The celebrity campmates are also banned from contact with the outside world during their time on the show.

This means they are not allowed to call out messages of love or well wishes to their friends and family when they know they are on camera.

But after 22 series the contestants have come up with a sneaky way to communicate with their loved ones back home and tell them they miss them and are doing okay.

Over the years celebrities have begun using secret signals to send messages when they know they are live on camera and producers can not cut them out of the show.

They do this during the live broadcast around around the campfire every morning when hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly come in to talk to the celebrities.

And viewers believe they have already spotted how some of the 2023 jungle alumni are communicating with their families.

Marvin Humes

JLS singer and This Morning presenter Marvin Humes has been spotted touching his heart with his right fist every time his name is called out and he knows he is on camera.

Fans believe it is his way of telling wife Rochelle Humes and his children - daughters Alaia-Mai, who is 10, and Valentina Raine, who is six, and their three-year-old son Blake Hampton - that he loves them.

One viewer commented on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter: "Marvin and his fist on heart sign to home again lol!*! #ImACeleb"

Another said: "#ImACeleb Marvin definitely giving Rochelle a sign by tapping his heart when Ant and Dec enter camp"

And another viewer agreed: "Marvin already doing his secret hand sign to home"

EastEnders star Danielle Harold has also been spotted touching the brim of her hat during the live broadcasts so far - a time-tested signal to home favoured by celebrities in past series.

In series gone by contestants have used touching, kissing or drawing on their hat as a way of communicating secret messages on screen.

Nella Rose

Some eagle-eyed viewers have speculated that social media influencer Nella Rose is sending a message by covering her mouth with her hand every time And and Dec call her name.

But the loud and bubbly TV presenter could just be trying to stop herself laughing and squealing too loud at the shock of being told she has been voted for a trial.

After her performance in the trials so far she has already earned the nickname 'Yella Rose'.

Memorable messages

I'm A Celebrity contestants have been sending secret messages home for years, and had to get creative after rules prevented them using pens and chalk to write messages on their hands and hats.

Memorable signals include 2020's Queen of Jungle Giovanna Fletcher who would touch her thumb to her nose as a signal to her sons Buzz, nine, Buddy, seven, and Max, five.

Last year radio presenter Chris Moyles would make a 'T' shape with his fingers for girlfriend Tiffany, and at one point even wrote a 'T' on his hat with charcoal.

And in 2020 Strictly dancer AJ Prichard would kiss his hat as a secret message to his girlfriend.
