'I'm a Celeb': Piers Morgan chases Susanna Reid with tarantula

Good Morning Britain descended into relative chaos on Wednesday (November 21) as a furry eight-legged guest was welcomed onto the ITV show.

Before speaking to I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! hosts Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby, the I’m A Celeb correspondent Richard Arnold brought on his little friend with the help of handler Trev.

GMB hosts Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway were introduced to Mary the tarantula, which immediately prompted Reid to spring out of her seat and step away from the desk.

Determined to prove to Donnelly and Willoughby that he’s “fearless” and would definitely last in the jungle, Morgan promptly took Mary on his hand and seemed perfectly at ease with it.

But being Piers Morgan, he then decided to terrify his co-workers by chasing them around the studio, holding the tarantula out towards them.

He first held it out toward Garraway, who screamed and jumped out of her chair. Then he began to chase Reid around the studio, scaring her off the set.

Morgan then terrified weather reporter Laura Tobin with the creature before joking: ““I think this is what you call harassment in the workplace!”

With absolute pandemonium breaking out in the studio, Mary’s handler Trev warned Morgan to be careful with the tarantula, fearing that he might job her on the floor.

Viewers found the whole ordeal deeply amusing, with one writing on Twitter: “Someone needs to add the Benny hill music to this.”

However, many were concerned for the welfare of Mary, with some accusing Morgan of being irresponsible and disrespectful.

One viewer wrote: While anyone who knows anything about the fragility of tarantulas sat in fear watching and waiting for it to fall and die. It wasn’t a comedy prop, he should have been respectful to it. The poor handler!!!
