I'm A Celebrity: Check out Amir Khan screaming in first Bushtucker Trial

He’s used to coming up against tough opponents in the boxing ring but Amir Khan was easily defeated by a snake in the first I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Bushtucker Trial of the series.

The former light-welterweight world champion – who has never watched the show before – was left screaming and shrieking in fear when he took on the Critter-cal Rescue trial on Monday night’s episode.

The fighter didn’t appear confident as he made his way into the giant underground area where he had to crawl over various bugs, which left him shrieking in horror, but his real demise came when he met a jungle python.

Amir was faced with three holes, which contained a crocodile, a snake and a mud crab, and after a few jabs inside the serpent’s base he pulled the snake out thinking it was a rope tied to a star.

Upon seeing it was in fact a snake, Amir couldn’t wait to escape the area and bellowed out the infamous line, “I’m a celebrity… get me out of here” to end the challenge early.

The Bolton-born boxer – who previously claimed the show was for “has beens” – took part in the trial alongside Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo, who had to be tied down in a locked room and have copious amounts of smelly bugs dropped on her.

But she was left bitterly disappointed when he ended the challenge prematurely and left the whole camp with just basic rations of rice and beans.

Beforehand, Amir had found one of the yellow prizes he required in a mix of maggots in the first room and again in the second room, which was filled with cockroaches.

Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec after being pulled out, a shocked and shaken Amir said: “This was my first trial, I thought you’d take it easy on me, I’m scared of snakes.

“I feel bad for the team because I really wanted to get some meal tickets but I just had to give up, it got so hard.”

When they returned to camp and told their fellow campmates what had happened, Toff was less than impressed as Amir recalled their ordeal.

Whilst the group had to live on rice and beans for their main meal, they did win some biscuits in the Dingo Dollar challenge.

Shappi, Jack and Vanessa also won another meal ticket, which Shappi was awarded, for taking part in the No Lights challenge.

Unsurprisingly, viewers dealt Amir another potential knockout blow when they voted him to do the next Bushtucker Trial, Flushed Away, on Tuesday night’s show.
