Impington lorry crash leaves pedestrian seriously injured as air ambulance called to scene

A pedestrian was seriously injured in a lorry crash on a Cambridgeshire village road on Monday (June 24). The woman was taken to hospital after the crash in Impington.

Eyewitnesses said Chequers Road was closed for several hours following the crash, which involved a lorry and a pedestrian. They said the incident "looked very serious" and that an air ambulance was called.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 11.21am on Monday morning (24 June) to reports of a two-vehicle collision in Chequers Road, Impington. Officers and paramedics attended, and a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"An investigation is underway, no arrests have been made at this time."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called just after 11.15am on Monday with reports of a road traffic collision on Chequers Road in Impington involving a lorry and a pedestrian. An ambulance, an ambulance officer vehicle, a rapid response vehicle and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"One patient, an adult female, was transported by road to Addenbrooke's Hospital for further care."
