Inquest opens into tragic death of 'loving' mum, 52, killed on M6

An inquest has been opened into the death of a gran-to-be who was struck by a vehicle on the M6. Lisa Kelsall, from Stoke-on-Trent, had been spotted walking along the M6 to M62 slip road in Cheshire before being hit.

Emergency services received a 'concern for welfare' call. Paramedics found Lisa in a lane between junctions 21 and 21A of the M6 near the Croft interchange in Warrington.

The 52-year-old mum-of-three, who also went by the name Lisa Lang, was confirmed dead at the scene at 1.14am on April 9. It is thought that Lisa's white Vauxhall Mokka car joined the M6 northbound in Staffordshire at around 11.30pm on Monday, April 8.

The 47-year-old driver of a white Citroen Relay van, from Preston, was arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing Lisa's death by dangerous driving.

Now Cheshire Coroner's Office has confirmed an inquest was opened last Wednesday with the full hearing scheduled to take place on October 31.

In a statement released following her death, Lisa's family said: “A loving daughter, mother and grandmother-to-be, taken too soon, RIP Lisa Kelsall. Forever in our hearts."

More than £10,000 was in memory of Lisa following her death.
