Hurricane Zeta lashed Biloxi, Mississippi on Wednesday, October 28, bringing massive flooding to the area and submerging the lower level of a casino parking garage. Zeta was downgraded to a tropical storm early Thursday morning.
Footage taken by Nicholas Ryan Jackson in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino garage shows a powerful surge of water surrounding the building and rapidly moving into the parking lot.
“Storm surge inundating the lower level of the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi,” wrote Jackson. “We watched it take out a whole wall 50 feet away from us! Zeta was INSANE!”
The National Hurricane Center had warned of “life-threatening storm surge, high winds, and heavy rain” as Zeta moved through southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi. Credit: Nicholas Ryan Jackson via Storyful
