Inside No. 9 is set to return to screens very soon, with a series 8 trailer released.

The hit BBC anthology show, which follows the goings-on inside a series of 'number 9s', comes from The League of Gentlemen's Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith and has gained a devoted following since its debut in 2014.

A year after the last full series, and a few months on from a recent Christmas special, it has now been confirmed that series 8 will return to BBC Two on April 27 at 10pm.

The new clip gives a taste of the twisted tales to come, including a parrot and a summoning circle with the number 9 at the centre.

Alongside the two regular stars, Inside No. 9 has signed-up a stellar cast for the new series, including Sherlock's Amanda Abbington, EastEnders legend Anita Dobson and People Just Do Nothing's Asim Chaudhry.

Also on board are Gavin & Stacey's Mathew Horne, Sex Education's Samantha Spiro, My Mad Fat Diary's Claire Rushbrook, Dreamland's Frances Barber, Ghosts' Leon Herbert, House of the Dragon's Phil Daniels, Stay Close's Menyee Lai, Guilt's Moyo Akandé, The Madame Blanc Mysteries' Robin Askwith, Benidorm's Sheila Reid and Ayda Kiiza.

Beyond series 8, the show will also return for a ninth outing, which is set to be its final outing for the time being.

"We feel it is a good time to pause Inside No. 9 after we finish filming series nine next year," Pemberton told The Sun last year.

"We’re not saying it’s over for good," he added. “After all, The League Of Gentlemen came back, but we won’t be looking to make any more episodes for the time being.”

Inside No. 9 returns on April 27 at 10pm on BBC Two.
