An Instagram model has been convicted of harassment after telling six million followers her ex-husband slept with prostitutes.

Rawan Bin Hussain, 24, dubbed “the Brooke Shields of Kuwait” posted pictures of Mohammed Youssef Migariaf’s family on the social media site, and accused him of giving her a sexually transmitted infection by sleeping with prostitutes.

Bin Hussain, a law graduate from King’s College London who lives in Dubai, admitted harassment and criminal damage in a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The court heard she used scissors to cut up a £200 polo shirt she had bought for Mr Migariaf during an argument at a luxury central London apartment on June 24 last year.

Mr Migariaf, a Libyan businessman, called police to their flat in Hyde Park Gate, who arrested Bin Hussain after finding Mr Migariaf bleeding from scratches on his face.

Following her release, the online influencer, who was labelled “the Brooke Shields of Kuwait” by Vogue magazine in 2016, was banned from contacting her partner under bail conditions.

But she sent a flurry of text messages and Instagram posts to Mr Migariaf, including one text message on July 13 last year which said: “You are disgusting and pathetic, and a pathological liar,” adding: “I can’t believe I loved a monster like you.”

Bin Hussain told her six million followers on Instagram she was seeking a divorce, accusing her husband of passing on human papillomavirus (HPV).

The mother-of-one posted on the app: “So now to let everyone know I am very proud to say I’m divorcing my husband.

“He gave me HPV-16 because he sleeps with random prostitutes. If this will make me less of a human being, that’s fine.”

The former Cosmopolitan Middle East star – referred to in court as Rawan Abdullah – also approached the businessman on July 12 last year while he was having dinner with a family member.

The court heard Bin Hussain eventually convinced Mr Migariaf to visit a hotel with her then “made him feel guilty about getting the police involved”.

She told him: “How can you do that to the mother of your child? We could start all over again, and travel, restart our relationship.”

Jonathan Bryan, prosecuting, said: “There is a frequent allegation he sleeps with prostitutes. In the background of this case, the defendant has posted Instagram pictures of members of Mr Migariaf’s family.”

In a victim impact statement read to the court, Mr Migariaf said: “My life has completely gone upside down. I no longer have the face to meet with my family, they have always warned me.”

Mr Migariaf, who is 14 years older than Bin Hussain, had admitted assaulting the fashion star in Dubai in 2019, according to statements from local police referred to the court by Justin Rouse, defending Bin Hussain.

Bin Hussain, who flew in from Dubai for Monday’s hearing, was due to stand trial but pleaded guilty to harassment and criminal damage. A further count of assault was dropped by the prosecution.

She was ordered not to contact Mr Migariaf or his family directly or indirectly for five years, and to pay a £6,500 fine, £500 in prosecution costs, and a £65 victim surcharge.

The mother-of-one showed no emotion as she sat in the dock wearing a black suit and white open-collar shirt.
