Intense Winds and Rain Hit Matagorda as Hurricane Nicholas Approaches Landfall

Intense rain and wind lashed parts of Texas, as Hurricane Nicholas approached landfall in the state’s south east on September 13.

This footage filmed by Bill Orton, shows heavy rain and wind walloping a road in Matagorda.

Nicholas “strengthened” to a Category 1 hurricane on September 14, as it approached Texas, making landfall with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.
