Investigation after Cambs Burger King blaze

The service station was affected by fire in the early hours of July 1

An investigation has been launched into a fire at a Cambridgeshire branch of Burger King. The blaze took hold of the service station premises in Newmarket Road, Little Abington, this morning (Monday).

The services are on the A11 at the Four Went Ways roundabout. Fire crews from Linton, Cambridge, Saffron Walden, and Newport were called at 4.19am.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary attended alongside the fire service. It confirmed an investigation has now been launched.

Policing South Cambridge said: "Just after 4am this morning we were called, alongside colleagues at the fire service, to a large fire at Burger King in Newmarket Road, Little Abington. An investigation is now ongoing to establish the cause of the fire."

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan. Crews are still at the scene making sure the fire is fully out and making the area safe. An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire."
