The New Saints have created history, going the entire Cymru Premier season unbeaten to claim invincibility status.

They won 30 games and drew twice to complete an impressive feat - it is the first time a team has gone unbeaten in the league since Barry in 1997-98.

The 16-time league winners are now targeting the domestic treble. On Sunday night, a 2-0 win against Connah’s Quay Nomads, who are second in the standings, cemented the team's status as the league's invincibles.

TNS won their 16th Cymru Premier title on March 2 following a 4-0 victory against Cardiff Met and have won the league with a record number of points. They dropped just four all term, taking 92 from a possible 96 and in doing so finishing a remarkable 33 points above second-placed Nomads.

It caps an era of dominance for the Oswestry side. Since the 2009-10 season they have been the winners or runners-up every single campaign.

They’ve now joined the illustrious list of invincible teams, alongside the likes of Arsenal, Rangers, Porto and Juventus.

Head coach Craig Harrison said: “It’s a huge achievement, not simply going unbeaten, but the manner in which we’ve done so by winning so many games.

"Thirty wins and just two draws is a fantastic achievement, and the players should be very, very proud of themselves.

"When everything quietens down and the dust settles, I think it’ll be looked at as a really really top achievement by a top group of players and staff."

It’s now been more than two years since they lost at home and the side are 54 games unbeaten in all Welsh domestic matches, both home and away. Their record-breaking season has also meant they’ve surpassed their previous record goal tally of 112, scoring 117 league goals.

Following the culmination of the league, they are now hoping to finish off their campaign by clinching the domestic treble on Sunday. They have already won the Nathaniel MG Cup this year, having beaten Swansea City Under-21s 5-1 to win their 10th title back in January.

To complete the treble, they need to retain the JD Welsh Cup at the weekend and they will once again play the Nomads, this time at Rodney Parade, in a bid to lift the trophy for the 10th time.

They also have eyes now on making a mark in Europe - once the treble is safely secured.

Top scorer Brad Young said. “It’s great to have gone unbeaten but we need to get the job done next week in the Welsh Cup final before focusing on making more history in Europe this summer."
