Apple has released the highly anticipated iOS 15 update for the iPhone but some users have been left frustrated after the Safari address bar was moved to the bottom of the screen.

The new operating system was launched on Monday and can be downloaded through the General tab in the settings app.

Apple has completely changed the way users receive notifications and added a new Focus feature that helps people split their personal and work lives.

But a redesign of the Safari web browser where the address bar has been moved to the bottom of the screen has frustrated some users.

Thankfully you can easily change it back to the top of the screen.

What new features does iOS 15 have?

Safari

Apple has redesigned its web browser Safari, which includes moving the address bar, tab bar and controls to the bottom of the screen to make them "easier to reach”.

As mentioned, this can easily be changed back if you do not like it.

iOS15 also allows users to group tabs and swipe between them.

Focus

Focus is meant to help users “reduce distraction by filtering notifications based on what a user wants to focus on in that moment”.

In practice, this means people will be able to have a Work Focus where they can only see notifications from colleagues and apps used for work during day hours.

Alternatively, they can have a Personal Focus that can be used to filter out work-related stuff and Fitness Focus to help users concentrate on their workout.

Notifications

Apple has redesigned notifications, adding photos for contacts and larger icons to make them easier to identify.

Users can also select a notification summary that will pull together a selection of notifications and deliver them at a scheduled time.

FaceTime

iPhone users can now FaceTime Android and Windows PC users by sending them a link they can use to join via a browser. They no longer need an Apple account.

Apple has also launched a new option that allows users to see six people in a grid format.

Users can also now blur the background during a FaceTime call.

Live Text

iOS 15 has a similar feature to Google’s Lens called Live Text, which allows users to find out extra information about landmarks and other things of interest by pointing the camera at them.

Apple said: “Using on-device intelligence, Live Text recognises text in photos across the entire system including the web, and allows users to take action, such as copy and paste, look up information, and translate.”
