Brentford boss Dean Smith admitted his frustrations as a 2-0 defeat at Ipswich Town left the Bees rooted to the foot of the Championship table.

In-form strikers Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner scored either side of the break to continue Ipswich's perfect start to the 2017-18 season.

Defeat for Brentford left the visitors bottom with just a solitary point, and a disappointed Smith said: "That's certainly the word I'd use at the moment, frustration.

"We made one mistake in the first half and they score. We should have been out of sight in the first half, we were excellent.

"We created a number of chances and didn't take them. I believe if we score when we're on top then we win the game comfortably.

"We have to keep believing in what we're doing. I'm optimistic, but I'm cautious that we're losing games which we shouldn't lose.

"It's another game where we've had 22 chances, they've had six and scored two. We have to make sure we're converting those chances.

"Second half we became sloppy with the ball. We put some good crosses in but didn't even look like getting on the end of it."
