Yahoo News Iron Fist might don classic costume in The Defenders
Marvel's series of superhero shows on Netflix have gone to great pains to ensure that their comic book superheroes stay grounded.
But while Daredevil eventually donned his iconic red suit, and even Luke Cage and Jessica Jones briefly toyed with their classic looks, the Danny Rand of Iron Fist still doesn't look much like his comic book counterpart.
But that could all be about to change, with actor Finn Jones telling Digital Spy that Danny could well don the yellow and green in new team-up series The Defenders.
"For Danny, he has to earn the right to wear the costume," Jones said. "Certainly at the beginning of The Defenders, he is not in that state of mind yet.
"Now by the end of The Defenders, has Danny earned the right to wear the costume? I think so. Are we gonna see it? You'll have to tune in!"
Intriguing. The Defenders will pick up with Danny and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) five months after the events of Iron Fist, with the pair returning to New York just as a cataclysm strikes the city.
Jones said that sharing the "schedule and physical workload" with three co-leads – Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage) – "allowed the show to breathe".
"It was definitely good to share the load," he said. "It allowed you to think about the scenes a little bit more clearly, take more time to rehearse the fight choreography... it just let the thing breathe a little bit, which was nice."
The Defenders will launch all eight episodes exclusively on Netflix this Friday (August 18).
