Is this seal bashful or simply the biggest poser in the animal kingdom?

Seals are never going to survive unless they get a little crazy.

But it also helps if they are camera ready.

One particular seal has made quite a splash in a series of photos.

The animal was caught on camera by semi-professional photographer Julie Saunders recently during a visit to Horsey Beach in Norfolk.

But is the seal in the pictures genuinely shy, or does it know exactly how to work the camera?

In one photo, the animal appears to try to conceal its face, but in another it gives the camera a knowing glance.

Miss Saunders, 33, and her fiancé, Ross Levere, 34, drove three hours from their home in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, to see the seal.

“We got to the beach and there were quite a few seals about which was just an amazing things to see,” she said.

“But I focused in on this one because it just looked so embarrassed. It almost looks like it’s just realised it’s forgotten something.

“I just thought it was so cute the way as soon as I turned my camera to get a shot of it, it lifted its little flipper to hide its face and then slowly lowered it before glancing over.

“It is one of my favourite images from the day. It is so funny. I feel so lucky that I was just in the right place at the right time.”

Miss Saunders is a full-time cashier who also does freelance wedding photography.

“Living in the UK you get so used to the only wildlife you have access to being squirrels or foxes or birds,” she said.

“I never thought I would be able to find seals just a few hours away. It was such an incredible experience getting to spend time so close to these amazing marine mammals.”
