Island's best pub and beer of 2023 crowned by CAMRA

The great and good of the Isle of Wight's beer and brewing scene have been crowned.

Members of the Isle of Wight branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) have been voting for their favourite pub and beer of 2023.

In third place, with 29 votes is 2022's winner, The Travellers' Joy, Northwood.

While in second place, for the second year running, is Sandown's Castle Inn, with 35 votes.

Finishing top of the pile with 44 votes, is Newport Ale House. The pub was fourth the previous year.

Every year CAMRA members vote for their favourites and the list is seen as a guide to the best Island pubs and the local breweries.

Also crowned is the best beer of 2023.

With 44 votes and in third place, is Puncheon Porter, of Goddards Brewery.

Island Brewery's Earls R.D.A., which ranked first for 2022, was second for 2023 with 64 votes.

The overall winner, meanwhile, was Goddards' Fuggle-Dee-Dum, with 70 votes.
