An exciting new Italian restaurant specialising in fresh pasta has opened in Newquay.

Little Ears has opened its doors on Fore Street, located in the former Bush Petter site.

The neighbourhood restaurant holds up to 40 diners and offers an Italian-inspired menu that changes regularly and includes homemade gelato, bespoke cocktails and an interesting range of wines.

An overhaul of the space has seen the former interior redesigned to create an open kitchen.

In line with a modern aesthetic, the restaurant boasts calming cappuccino-coloured walls and has been furnished using reclaimed items sourced from local markets and antique shops.

The food selection follows a structure including antipasti, sharing plates, pasta, meat and fish, sides and desserts.

Signature dishes such as 'little ears' (orecchiette) with Cornish crab, Datterini tomatoes, garlic and parsley, can be enjoyed with a glass of something fine selected from their extensive and diverse wine menu.

Little Ears was opened by chef patron Fred Goodrich, who has worked in several Michelin-starred locations, including London's HIDE and Bonhams, and Restaurant James Sommerin in Wales.

Despite his high-end culinary background, he has emphasised delivering a more casual dining experience.

Mr Goodrich said: "We’re so lucky to be able to work with some of the best suppliers and producers here in Cornwall, where everything from seafood to fruit and vegetables are unmatched in quality, but fortunately sourced from just down the road".

Little Ears is open Tuesday to Saturday between 12pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 9pm.

Reservations can be made via opentable.
