Italian restaurant in Wadebridge restored to 'former glory' by local publicans

A couple behind a popular pub has taken on a new venture in the form of an Italian restaurant. The brainchild of Dave and Louise Mortlock, of the Molesworth Arms pub in Wadebridge, Bellini's opened in the town in May.

Described as family-friendly with an Italian influence, the restaurant is the couple's "fresh and vibrant" new offering. They say it boasts a menu of Italian dishes alongside a smart-casual atmosphere offering something different to their pub, which they took over in 2019.

Formerly Route 39, the Morlock's want Bellini's to "celebrate the best of Italian and Cornish food and drink". Having worked on cruise ships between 1997 and 2003 where they met, they have since settled down in Cornwall.

A spokesperson for Bellni's said: “If you are looking for something to go that’s fresh, new & vibrant, then Bellini’s might be the answer. This new, family-friendly Italian-influenced restaurant opened in Wadebridge in May.

"It is the second site for Dave and Louise who also own and operate the well-known and much loved Molesworth Arms Hotel and pub in the town, who, after several years working on cruise ships including the QE2 and spending time in Portugal before returning to the UK in 2008 and settling in Beautiful Cornwall in 2019.

Mr Mortlock said: "Upon hearing the site was becoming available we put our hat into the ring as we love the location and the layout of the place and after hearing of the site's former glory which was based around Italian dishes they decided it made sense to go down this route again although a warm welcome awaits from a team who are eager to please, the restaurant is modern and bright with Mediterranean touches to the décor.

"There is a large patio area serving food and drink where you can watch Wadebridge life pass you by. The menu itself has fresh calamari, carpaccio, bruschettas, pizzas and pastas as well as daily specials and luscious desserts including tiramisu and Sicilian lemon cheesecake, all complimented with a tempting drinks menu with a mixture of cocktails and spritzes to give you those summer vibes. So, if you're looking to find somewhere new, you might have just found it."
