ITV Coronation Street baby swap horror as fans 'work out' real identity of Bernie's son

Coronation Street fans are speculating that Kit Green may not actually be Bernie Winter's biological son, and they believe they've figured out who his parents are.

Earlier this year, Bernie, played by Jane Hazlegrove, revealed she had a son named Zodiac, whom she gave up for adoption nearly three decades ago. Despite knowing little about him, other than his name change to Christopher Green shortly after birth, Bernie was determined to find him, reports the Express.

It was later disclosed that he was a detective who had recently arrived in Weatherfield: Christopher 'Kit' Green. The truth about his biological connection to Bernie eventually surfaced, but Kit, portrayed by Jacob Roberts, wanted nothing to do with her or her family.

Meanwhile, Bernie's twins Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash) remain oblivious to the existence of their half-brother.

Kit played a role in sending Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) to prison for the murder of Lauren Bolton. As viewers will remember, the troubled young woman disappeared earlier this year and is presumed dead. However, in a shocking turn of events, Kit planted Lauren's DNA in paedophile Nathan's van, framing him for her murder.

But in a shock twist, viewers discovered that Lauren was actually killed by corrupt solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill), Now, fans are convinced that a baby swap involving Bernie took place years ago, and the beloved resident of the cobbles could be in for a big surprise.

On a Corrie Facebook fan page, speculation is rife among viewers. One fan commented: "I'm wondering if Kit and Joel were mixed up after birth and Joel is Bernie's other child and Kit is letting Bernie's think it's him, could be housemates."

Another fan speculated: "It's not so far-fetched. I read somewhere else that Kit and Joel are twins. Apparently Bernie was so traumatised she didn't remember she had two babies when she gave them up."

Adding to the theory, someone mentioned: "I think something similar happened to Kat in eastenders," with another person simply exclaiming: "Wow! " accompanied by a mind-blown emoji. A different viewer remarked: "You never know with Corrie."

A fourth said: "In Corrie, we know Kit is Bernie's son. But twins run in families. What if Paul and Gemma aren't her only set? Kit's brother could be, drum roll... Joel. And that's why they're helping each other?"
