Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have worked out Joel's Deering's downfall.

Fans were shocked last week when the character, played by Calum Lill, was confirmed as Lauren Bolton's attacker. The fictional solicitor is defending Nathan Curtis, who has been charged with Lauren's murder, and seemingly holds all the cards.

However, viewers think he may have already claimed his next victim after he was seen at Ellie's home in tonight's episode. Ellie was abused by Joel and he forced her to lie it was Nathan in order to keep up appearances.

However, he overheard in the café how Bethany Platt had convinced Ellie to go to the police. He was later seen in a mystery spot and deleted her number from his phone.

Viewers following the show on social media platform X are convinced this won't be enough as police would still be able to retrieve the information.

Tina said: "So Joel deletes Ellie's number... does he not realise you never actually delete anything from a mobile.....not so smart Joel"

Kelly added: "He's not very smart for a lawyer - it’s all good and well him deleting Ellie’s number but IF he does get found out, they’ll (probably) still be able to get back any texts between the 2 of them."

Lauren posted: "Looks like Joel has killed again ! But how stupid is he deleting Ellie’s number off his phone when he gets found out won’t the police check his phone and still see his previous contacts?"
