ITV has denied there is any feud between This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield
and Holly Willoughby.

Tabloids have reported tension between Phil and Holly as well as between him and presenter Ruth Langsford.

But the show's editor Martin Frizell has rubbished the claims, insisting Phil and Holly have a "genuine friendship".

He told The Sun: "We have the smartest viewers watching telly and believe me they would be the first to notice any issues – they haven't because there are none."

A spokeswoman for ITV added: "It's deeply disappointing and unfair for Phillip to be the target of this sort of malicious gossip.

"Phillip is a much respected broadcaster and colleague and this is absolutely not a description of This Morning that we recognise.

"Holly and Phil are great friends both on and off screen and are popular among viewers and colleagues alike."

Previously, ITV denied that Phillip had banned Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden from appearing on the show.

The pair were reported to have been engaged in a feud after Schofield allegedly stood in the way of Holden getting a co-presenting job on This Morning while Holly was away.

Holden had previously revealed that she'd offered "to meet him for a coffee months ago", but claimed he didn't reply to her text.

"I've moved on from it," she said.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10.30am.
