Emmerdale fans have heaped praise onto a soap star ahead of what will be a tough storyline.

In scenes set to air on Friday, the results of Evan's bone marrow tests come back and the family have their world turned upside down. Soap bosses confirmed that Evan would be diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia - the most common form of childhood leukaemia in the UK - and the ongoing story would explore the far-reaching impact that a childhood cancer diagnosis has on the entre family - from parents to siblings to grandparents.

Some have already predicted there could be a saviour waiting patiently at Home Farm. But, the lasting impacts of the storyline, set to run throughout the rest of year, remains to be seen.

Viewers have already been quick to praise Olivia Bromley, the actress who has played Dawn since 2018. Fans claimed her performance so far has been incredibly realistic, thanks to on-set support from Leukaemia Care UK, and raises the profile of an all-to-common issue for thousands of families across the UK.

One wrote: "Olivia Bromley is a powerhouse, she is already nailing this storyline and she will break your hearts in the episodes to come. So glad #Emmerdale are giving her something to really get her teeth into."

Another said: "The actress playing Dawn is making this seem so real! Great stuff so far #Emmerdale."

A third commented: "@OliviaBromley is just amazing! What a beautiful, fabulous actress and an absolute asset to the cast of @emmerdale!"

Elsewhere, tensions flared between Moira Dingle and Ruby Fox-Milligan after an accidental soaking led to traffic chaos. The women attempted to build bridges for the sake of Chas Dingle but a veiled apology sealed the ongoing feud as something fans will want to keep tabs on.

Viewers also saw the latest developments with fan favourite Belle Dingle who fans have been begging to run from her husband Tom King who has become more controlling and abusive in recent months. The desperate Emmerdale resident has been central to a coercive control storyline.

Thursday night saw Belle pull out her laptop and search if it was possible to fall pregnant whilst using contraceptive pills. Their relationship will be put under a magnifying glass in a special episode set to air next week (May 7) granting a unique look behind closed doors in what has been billed a "dinner party from hell" for the Dingle family.
