Emmerdale fans think they have sussed out why soap bosses plan on keeping a new character around.

After tense scenes on Monday, Dawn Fletcher was fuming to find out in front of a packed pub that Kim Tate tried to pay off her estranged mum Rose to leave the Yorkshire village. But, after facing up to some difficult questions by the daughter she abandoned as a child, Rose refused to go anywhere.

Despite telling Rose there was no hope of starting afresh, Dawn stunned her family by allowing her mum to move into Home Farm as she recovers from an injury. As the smug woman settles in, she warns Kim that she's not going to get rid of her so easily again.

Reacting the the drastic change of heart, one viewer posted on X (Twitter): "Now this really, really is the most ridiculous story line. Dawn’s mother moves in? As if!!!"

But, some fans think they have predicted where the storyline will lead and will spell a glimmer of hope for baby Evan. Fans will know that Dawn and Billy's baby boy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia - the most common form of childhood leukaemia in the UK.

Another wrote: "Oh Rose, guaranteed money will be the motivation when you are the saviour they need for Evan." A third suggested: "Dawn’s mum is obviously set up to be the donor for the baby.

Someone else claimed: "Calling it now, Rose will end up being a bone marrow donor for Evan."

Also, Manpreet Sharma comes to blows with partner Charles Anderson after he finds out about her kiss with local personal trainer Billy Fletcher. It all explodes as Charles witnesses the pair in the village as the ashamed GP tries to claw her way out of an embarrassing situation and seemingly ends their relationship.

Elsewhere, Nicola King cooks up the idea of a village fete to draw more visitors to Emmerdale village and doesn't take no for an answer when recruiting help from farmer Moira Dingle. Jimmy admits that his wife is "throwing herself at this like a madwoman" as something to focus on since the sentencing of their daughter Angelica King for causing death by dangerous driving.

And, over in The Woolpack, Chas Dingle puts her worries aside as she dons prosthetic breasts and ventures down for a shift behind the bar. Her anxiety is soon put to rest when she is showered with support by the other women in the village who reassure her about the lifesaving decision she made.
