ITV Emmerdale's Gus Malcolms' plan for Ivy 'solved' after Rhona raises suspicions

Emmerdale's Gus Malcolms has had a change of heart this week, making a surprising offer to Rhona Goskirk amid their ongoing feud.

Rhona was recently acquitted of allegations that she kidnapped her biological child, while Gus is still awaiting his fate over fraud charges. Gus was charged after using frozen embryos that belonged to him and Rhona from their marriage years ago, without Rhona's consent.

She believed they had been destroyed, and when Gus revealed his plans to use them with his wife Lucy, she refused to give permission. Gus forged Rhona's signature and Lucy became pregnant, but tragically she died in labour. Since then, Rhona has been eager to help raise her biological daughter, Ivy, but Gus attempted to escape to France with Ivy without Rhona's knowledge, resulting in Rhona taking her.

Gus will learn his fate in court this week, potentially facing years in prison for his crimes, but on Tuesday, he suddenly claimed he was putting Ivy first, and wanted Rhona and her partner Marlon Dingle's help with Ivy, reports the Mirror.

Gus was seen telling Marlon that he wanted to work with them to create the best life and home for his daughter, asking that they be a part of the baby's life regardless of his sentencing. He later shared his fears about his upcoming court date with Rhona, who mentioned the statement she had been asked to provide for him.

However, as he hinted at wanting to raise Ivy with the help of Marlon and Rhona, even suggesting he wouldn't stand in the way of Rhona bonding with her daughter, she seemed uncertain. Gus suggested that if he were sent to prison, he would want them to help care for Ivy, and he had a friendly conversation with the pair about Ivy's future.

Rhona then asked Marlon for his thoughts, questioning whether Gus would be so reasonable. Marlon said: "We're all gonna be fine."

As his court date looms, Gus told Rhona he would miss his daughter and soon left with her to go home. However, viewers are convinced he's not being truthful and suspect he plans to abscond with Ivy before his hearing.

One fan posted on X: "Is Gus doing a runner? " Another said: "I wouldn't trust Gus further than i could throw him," while a third added: "I really don't trust Gus, he's gonna take Ivy and run... I just know it."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
