'I've never seen anything like this': Four injured in Bradford restaurant car crash

FOUR people were injured when a car smashed into a Bradford restaurant, it has been confirmed.

Emergency services scrambled to Listerhills Road at 12.10am on Friday following a one-vehicle collision.

The Volkswagen Polo had gone into the front of the Lahore Butt Karahi restaurant.

When the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene the damage was extensive.

A 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

West Yorkshire Police told the T&A she was checked over and three others were treated for minor injuries at hospital.

In the aftermath of the incident, police cordoned off the scene.

Four ambulances also attended and a crew from Bradford Fire Station evacuated people from the surrounding building.

The crash caused extensive damage (Image: Newsquest) Landlord Parvez Khan said he got a call shortly after midnight and came to the scene. He said there was extensive damage.

Mr Khan said the scene was full of police cars, firefighters, and paramedics.

He said: "I just can't believe it. I've never seen anything like this. I've been up all night - my head is spinning."

Gas systems were being disconnected and scaffolding crews were at the scene amid concerns the building was structurally unsafe, said Mr Khan.

Chris Green, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks said: "Our engineers attended the site at the request of the fire service and isolated the gas supply to the property.

"No gas apparatus was damaged."

A spokesperson for the service said: "We received an emergency call at midnight on Thursday evening to report a collision between a car and building on Listerhills Road in Bradford.

"Four ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team and a team leader were dispatched to the scene and four patients were conveyed to Bradford Royal Infirmary."

A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called at 12.08am to reports of a one-vehicle road traffic collision into a building on Listerhills Road.

"The driver, a woman aged 26 years old, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the service said: "We were called at 12.22am this morning to reports of a dangerous structure on Listerhills Road in Bradford.

"This was found to be a car that had crashed into a building.

"One crew from Bradford attended and evacuated people from the surrounding building.

"We left the scene at 2.11am."
