Saltburn star Jacob Elordi is up against The Bear's Ayo Edebiri in a BAFTA award decided by the public.

The Hollywood actors are two of five nominees announced for 2024's EE Rising Star Award, the only category where the winner is voted for by the British public.

Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, How to Have Sex lead Mia McKenna-Bruce and Sophie Wilde of Talk to Me and Boiling Point complete the nominee list, with voting now open.

Film fans have until midday on February 15 to cast their vote, with the winners announced during the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony, airing on BBC One and iPlayer on February 18.

"It’s wonderful and humbling to receive this nomination," said Edebiri of the nomination. "It’s the greatest privilege to tell stories and make people laugh. I know I’m in esteemed company and this means the world."

Elordi similarly revealed he was "deeply honoured" to be recognised by BAFTA and EE for the award.

The EE Rising Star Award contenders were unveiled by actor Stephen Graham in a press conference today (January 10) at London's Savoy Hotel.

Nominees were chosen by a panel of jurors, made up of casting directors, producers, and industry experts, including Normal People's Daisy Edgar-Jones, Slow Horses season three star Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Good Grief and former EastEnders actor Himesh Patel.

The Rising Star Award has been running for 19 years now, with past winners including Lashana Lynch, Letitia Wright, Tom Holland and Daniel Kaluuya. Last year Sex Education's Emma Mackey picked up the award.

The category honours actors "who have each demonstrated their remarkable talent in film over the past year, having captured the imagination of both the public and film industry alike".

The EE BAFTA Film Awards take place on February 18, airing on BBC One and iPlayer.
