Jailed Rapist Brags On Facebook About Enjoying ‘Long Earned Holiday’

A jailed rapist faces an extra two years behind bars after he allegedly bragged on Facebook that he is enjoying a “long earned holiday.”

Thomas Holmes, who is serving 13 years for repeatedly raping a woman, reportedly mocked taxpayers for forking out for his meals.

The 43-year-old also posted an image of his new “home” to his account.

And he wrote: "Sorry all not been in touch and won’t be for a while but I’m on a long earned holiday in Hull.”

The Ministry of Justice has now launched an investigation into the forbidden post, which could result in him spending a further two years at HMP Hull, East Yorks.

Pauline Carruthers, founder of the sex abuse charity Hope based in Scarborough, North Yorks., demanded that Holmes’ privileges be stopped.

Prisoners are banned from using mobile phones and social media while locked up and face tough punishments if found to be using them.

Holmes’ former friends have spoken out about the post and have called him an insensitive and remorseless “monster”.

One Facebook friend said: “He probably thinks it’s hilarious, but it just shows there isn’t an ounce of remorse in his body.”

Some of Holmes’ family claimed his account had been hacked; however, Facebook has since removed his profile.

The convict, originally from Rochdale, Manc., admitted four counts of rape in what was described as “horrific” attacks over a three-day period.

A judge said it was designed to degrade and humiliate his victim as she recovered from a serious illness.

Ms Carruthers, whose charity Hope helps victims of sexual abuse and rape, has questioned how Holmes was allowed to spend almost a day surfing the web and posting status updates before the alarm was raised.
