Jake Knapp is becoming a household name in the professional golf world with the support of his girlfriend, Makena White.

When Knapp got his first PGA Tour victory at the Mexico Open in February 2024, he and White also went public with their relationship. According to an NBC broadcast of his big finish, the couple have been dating since August 2023.

After Knapp won, the PGA Tour account on X (formerly Twitter) posted a video of White's reaction. "This would be so sweet," she said as Knapp prepared for his final putt. Once the ball sunk in the hole, White hurried onto the green to congratulate her boyfriend.

From golf to hockey, White is a big sports fan — she often cheers on her favorite teams, and Knapp, on X.

She is from Canada

White attended St. Joseph High School in Ottawa, Canada, where she acted as the Athletic Council president during her senior year. In this role she promoted the school's sports endeavors and raised money for their programs, per her LinkedIn.

After high school, White attended McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto. She graduated in 2019 with a degree in honors communications and software engineering.

She works in medical sales

After graduating from university, White started a career in surgical sales. She has been working in the field since 2021, per her LinkedIn.

"Day to day I ensure surgeons, primarily Vascular and Cardiac, have the equipment necessary to be successful in providing patients the best possible care," she wrote on LinkedIn about her job at medical device company Lemaitre.

She is a huge sports fan

White often posts about her love of sports on X, including her passion for two hockey teams: the Boston Bruins and the Ottawa Senators.

In 2022, she called out her own obsession with the sport in a post on X. Quoting what people say about her interest in her favorite team, White wrote, “'All you ever talk about is…' #GoSensGo #zub."

The joking caption was accompanied by a photo of her in a hat stitched with the word "zub," a shout-out to one of the Senators' defensive players, Artem Zub.

She and Knapp share a love of golf

One thing White and Knapp have in common is a passion for golf. While she is not a professional like her boyfriend, White often posts about the sport on social media.

In the spring of 2021, the medical sales rep got back into golf after a hiatus. "I was a good little golfer as a kid. But from 16-21 I picked up a club maybe 5x total, I had no interest," White wrote on X. "Now here I am at 23, obsessed with the sport again & today I got my 1st set of 'big kid' clubs."

Playing golf again, especially with her dad, made White really happy. "Can’t wipe the smile off my face," she wrote on X.

She is supportive of Knapp's career

After the couple were seen together following Knapp's big victory in Mexico, White has continued to attend his events and post about her pride for his success.

In March 2024, she posted a brief video on X from The Players Championship in Florida. The clip showed White lounging in the grass as Knapp practiced his swing. "Friday night hangs at @THEPLAYERS," she wrote.

That same month, White quoted a post from the PGA Tour X account that featured a clip of her and Knapp hugging and wrote, "Very proud of sweet boy."

Even White's family has gotten in on the fun of supporting her boyfriend. In February 2024, she posted a photo of a group of her family members wearing merch emblazoned with the golfer's catchphrase, "Knapp Time."
