Jameela Jamil victim of epic Golden Globes name gaffe

British actress Jameela Jamil was mistakenly identified with the wrong name during E!’s Golden Globes pre-awards show.

As the 32-year-old star of NBC’s The Good Place walked the red carpet, the captions on E! Red Carpet displayed the name ‘Kamilah Al-Jamil’

Kamilah is actually the name of Jamil’s on-screen sibling in The Good Place. In the comedy show, available in the U.K. on Netflix, Tahani Al-Jamil – played by Jameela Jamil – often complains about her sister upstaging her.

Fortunately, both Jamil and fans of the show saw the funny side. Jamil tweeted multiple times during the evening about how hilarious she found the gaffe.

In one tweet she wrote: ‘E live red carpet. This is legit the funniest thing I have ever seen. What a joyous mistake. Tahani would DIE! LOO LOL LOL.’

And in another she seemed to insinuate that the gaffe was actually a deliberate one by the E! crew, who were perhaps fans of the series.

She wrote: ‘Hands down the greatest of red carpet jokes from whoever did this. Made my night.’

Many fans of the show also took to Twitter to share their appreciation of the blunder. Several quipped that even when ‘Talani’ was walking the Golden Globes red carpet, somehow her envied sister Kamilah had found a way to upstage her.

Jamil was also praised for secretly wearing jeans under her flowing red carpet gown last night.

In a video she shared on Twitter, she pulled up her dress in her chauffeured car to expose her skinny jeans and captioned the video with: ‘An experienced woman wears jeans under her golden globes gown because its FORKING cold.’

Many of her followers appreciated her secret ensemble. One Twitter user declared ‘Pants are the hidden gems tonight’ while another wrote, ‘wearing jeans under her dress cuz it’s cold. WHAT A WOMAN.’
