Excitement is building for James Arthur's homecoming gig at the Riverside Stadium.

Thousands of music lovers are expected to flock to the Boro ground on June 8 as the Teesside singer-songwriter brings his Bitter Sweet Love tour to Middlesbrough as part of a special concert. It's the former X Factor star's biggest headlining gig to date - and what better place to have it than on his home turf.

If you're planning to go to watch James belt out many of his chart-topping hits, one handy thing to know is where to park your car. The town centre has plenty of places to leave your vehicle while you're at the concert - whether that's by using on-street parking or opting for a long-stay car park instead.

Here's a round up all the best places to park across the town:

Getting to the ground

  • North: A1, A689, A19, then A66 towards Middlesbrough

  • South A19, then A66 towards Middlesbrough

  • East: A171 or A174, then A66 towards Middlesbrough

  • West: use the A66 towards Middlesbrough

Parking

Concert-goers seeking to park and walk are encouraged to use the ‘Big Parking Ltd’ facility at Teesside University. The firm has secured concert parking on the Teesside University site, which is a 20-minute walk from the stadium. More info here.

Most local authority outdoor car parks are only free to use after 6pm, but please check individual closing times. You can also pay for most parking using the RingGo app, so you do not have to carry cash.

Also, the Captain Cook Square car park within the town centre retail area and the Zetland car park will both remain open until 1am on the morning following the concert event.

You can leave your vehicle overnight in any of the on-street parking areas or surface car parks (not multi-storey car parks) - but this is at your own risk and you must move your cvar before charging times start the next day.
