With Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin out now, James Corden decided to rope in the cast to bring a little musical fun to the people of America.

He quickly signs up the film's stars Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott to play their roles of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine respectively in the production, but things then get tense when the Late Late Show host decides that he wantes to be the one to play the Genie.

As it turns out, Will Smith won't give up his role so easily – after all, he's not gone through all that ridicule to let the guy from Lesbian Vampire Killers do it.

"You may be in Aladdin on the big screen," James says. "But this is live theatre."

"Challenge accepted," Will replies.

Of course, Will Smith played the role in the end – he is a "multiple Academy Award nominee", you know – but we have to say that James performs admirably in the role of Abu too.

"We rubbed the lamp," Corden summed up at the end of the clip. "And what came out is a friendship I will cherish forever."

But they still couldn't agree on who would make the best Genie.

Speaking of the Genie, the movie changes the ending to the character's storyline and we've been having a lot more thoughts about it than we probably should have. You can read what we had to say here, but beware of spoilers if you've not seen the remake yet.

Aladdin is out in cinemas now.
