James Gunn has shared an update on the final episodes of Doom Patrol amidst rumours that the show had been shelved.

The Worlds of DC show is due to conclude with its fourth season, the first six episodes of which were released in December 2022. The long delay for the remaining parts has led fans to speculate that the final instalments had been shelved, but the DC Studios chief alleviated their concerns (via Deadline).

“I can’t imagine a world where completed episodes are not going to be released,” he said on Threads, before explaining further with a follow-up post. “As I surmised, no, Doom Patrol episodes are absolutely NOT being shelved, even though the premiere date for the next shows hasn’t yet been announced to the public.”

Doom Patrol follows a band of unlikely heroes who gained their powers through tragic circumstances, with the series starring Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Alan Tudyk and Matt Bomer.

Gunn became the co-CEO and co-chairman of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran last year, with the pair’s tenure consisting of several new projects and cancellations.
