James May has crushed Grand Tour rumours involving Chadlington celebrity farmer Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.

The trio originally joined forces in 2003 to present hit BBC motoring show Top Gear before other ventures such as Prime Video’s The Grand Tour.

Filming on the latter’s final ever episode has finished and the episode, set for a September release date, could be the last fans see of them together.

Speaking to Amol Rajan and Nick Robinson on BBC’s The Today Podcast, Mr May revealed that the trio are unlikely to ever reunite professionally again.

“We're not going to make another series together about cars,” he said.

"You should never say but I think it is pretty unlikely.

"We have to accept we've done it for nearly 22 years which is a lot longer than we thought we would.

“When I started doing it in 2003, I thought this was a bit of a laugh and maybe it would last a few years.

“Here we are grey, wizened and sagging and we’ve only just stopped doing it and it's quite remarkable.

“You have to be grateful for the opportunity and accept, you know I don’t want to be that person in the pub that used to be on the telly.”

Mr May also confirmed this revelation last month when speaking to media company Unilad.

He said: "I think people would only really like us doing cars, despite what some people say - ‘Oh, I think you should all go off and do cooking or you should all go and do a podcast about nothing.’

“But I don’t think so. I think we should let it lie, which is what we did.”
