Jamie Carragher has issued a stern warning to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, advising them against making a move for Everton's Amadou Onana in the upcoming summer transfer window.

United had previously shown interest in the Belgian international last year, with a new midfielder being a top priority for them in the coming months. Arsenal reportedly initiated talks with Everton for a potential deal for the 22-year-old in January, with Chelsea also expressing their interest.

However, Everton's hefty price tag of over £50million deterred both London clubs from proceeding with the deal during the relatively quiet January transfer window. With Everton facing increasing financial strain, other league clubs might start showing interest in their valuable players, with defender Jarrad Branthwaite also expected to attract significant transfer attention.

But following Everton's crushing 6-0 defeat by Chelsea on Monday, ex-Liverpool defender Carragher expressed his doubts about Onana, stating that all he has seen him do is 'try lift the crowd'. Carragher told Sky Sports: "I must say this, Onana is a player who Everton may have to sell with the situation that they find themselves in financially.

"He came in with a huge reputation. Frank Lampard brought him in, he looks the part, did really well I think for Belgium at Wembley and there was talk of him going to other big clubs.

"I don't see it. I haven't since he's been there. I don't know what he is. Is he a holding midfield player?

"Does he get forward? Does he get involved? The only thing I have seen him do is try to lift the crowd, that is all I ever see him do when he plays for Everton."

Onana was substituted during the Chelsea match, with Everton now precariously positioned just two points above the relegation zone after their most recent points deduction.
