Jamie Foxx Says 'Everything Hurts Right Now' After Death of Friend Keith Jefferson: 'Gonna Miss You'

Jamie Foxx is reminiscing on his friendship with late actor Keith Jefferson.

The They Cloned Tyrone actor, 55, said on Instagram he had been going down memory lane of the times he shared with his late friend after news of Jefferson’s death on Thursday.

“Everything hurts right now," wrote Foxx. "Having a hard time looking through these pictures reliving the memories of us having a great time going to miss you man gonna miss you."

“[Ever] since we met back in college, you have been in incredible soul God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND RIP Keith 💔💔💔💔,” he concluded the post.

Earlier on Thursday, Foxx shared the news of Jefferson's death months after Jefferson announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. Foxx said “this one hurts.”

"Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul," Foxx wrote.

"We will all miss you dearly. It’s gonna take a long time for this to heal," Foxx added. "Goodbye, my friend. I love you."

Jefferson’s rep Nicole St. John confirmed the news to PEOPLE on Thursday, saying, "I am deeply saddened on a personal level. He was a kind person and a tremendous talent. It is a profound loss to the artistic community."

"He had several projects in the pipeline and was in the midst of a project that captured his unique and resonant voice," added St. John. "He had been looking forward to returning in the new year. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and close friends."

Jefferson was an actor, producer, voiceover artist and acting coach, according to his personal website. After meeting Foxx in college, he went on to work with the star several times during the span of his career, including on the sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show, Django Unchained, Day Shift and in the new movie The Burial.

Jefferson shared a trailer for The Burial on his Instagram last month, writing in a caption: "It’s finally here and what a blessing it was to work on this film with an amazing group of actors. Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones along with an all star cast and my most important role to date."
