Jamie Oliver hasn't got any plans to add to his brood of five children. In fact, he is planning to have a vasectomy in the very near future.

The 48-year-old TV chef told Chris Moyles on his Radio X show that he and wife Juliette Norton want to stop at five kids. Their youngest child, River Rocket Blue Dallas, was born in 2016.

Oliver said he's had something of a wake-up call by interacting with other parents — particularly those of seven-year-old River's friends — who are often much younger than he is.

"I think I probably need that operation! It’s a good time, but in my head I’m still in my twenties," said Oliver.

He added: "I’m now the oldest parent in River’s lot. And like, I can’t age them. So you’re sitting there talking to a parent, and then the references aren’t quite keying in, and you’re like: 'Dude, how old are you?' He’s like: '32'. I’m like: 'Damn, man. I’m like 16 years or whatever it is older than you'.

"But the music references are all different, the bike references are all different, the fashion references are all different. But you know, it’s all good. I’m still alive."

Oliver and his wife — known to everyone as Jools — got married way back in 2000 and had their first child, Poppy Honey Rosie, in 2002. They now have three daughters and two sons.

Jools Oliver told a podcast in 2020 that she was keen to have "one more" child, adding: "I want to just stop bugging Jamie."

Later that year, she revealed that she has had three miscarriages since River was born, including one during the pandemic lockdown.
