Jamie Oliver chased down and tackled a burglar at his home in London, according to reports.
The 43-year-old TV chef is said to have caught the thief as he was trying to break in house in Highgate, North London.
Running after him down the street, he reportedly pinned the man to the ground and waited for the police to arrive.
One neighbour told the Daily Mirror: “It was just a brave, selfless thing to do.
“Despite the clearly very hairy situation, Jamie was laughing and joking with the coppers saying they’d done a great job to arrive so quickly after the 999 call.
“Everyone is really thankful for his quick thinking and courage.”
The road has been hit by a number of recent break-ins, and includes Kate Moss among its other famous residents.
The burglar has reportedly tried to break into a neighbour’s house before turning to Oliver’s.
Another source added: “Jamie went absolutely mad and sprinted after the man down the street before catching up with him and pinning him down to the floor.
“He was then joined by his driver and a handful of neighbours who helped him hold down the burglar until police arrived to arrest him
“As well as protecting his family, he is very community spirited and cares just as much for the welfare of his neighbours as well. That’s probably why he leapt into action.”
A spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed that incident happened last week.
“At 7.13pm on Tuesday, 4th of September, police were called to reports of an aggressive male attempting to gain entry to residential addresses in N6.
“The male was apprehended by members of the public and was subsequently detained by police.
“He was taken to a North London police station where he remains at this time. Officers from Central North Command Unit are investigating.”
