Jane Fonda, Lee Isaac Chung to Take Part in 2024 Hollywood Climate Summit

The Hollywood Climate Summit has unveiled a star-studded lineup for its fifth annual environmental conference, which will run from June 25-28 in Los Angeles.

Jane Fonda, Bill Nye, Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung, Hacks co-showrunner Jen Statsky, A Murder at the End of the World co-showrunners Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling, Baby Reindeer actress Nava Mau and activist Quannah Chasinghorse will all take part in the event, as well as Extrapolations executive producer Dorothy Fortenberry, writer Karissa Valencia, musician YDE, climate activist Nalleli Cobo and U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm. Climate comedians Esteban Gast, Rasheda Crockett and Rollie Williams will also take the stage between sessions.

The conference will kick off at the Television Academy on June 25 and then continue at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater from June 26-28, with programming designed to strengthen climate consciousness in media by educating and connecting cross-sector professionals across film, television, gaming, marketing and advertising, and journalism.

Among the highlights: Chung, alongside Twisters EP Ashley Jay Sandberg, actor Brandon Perea, technical advisor Kevin Kelleher and tornado consultant Sean Waugh, will sit down for “Science, with a Twist: Behind the Making of the Upcoming Blockbuster Twisters;” Fonda will join a number of activists for a “Destination Tomorrow: A Series of Inspirational Keynotes” talk; and Statsky, Marling, Batmanglij and The Girls on the Bus showrunner Rina Mimoun will take part in a “Spotlight on Climate TV Stories” panel.

The 2024 summit programming will explore Hollywood’s pivotal role and influence in the climate movement, the significance of collective action building towards a positive future and how climate can drive creativity. This year will also feature the inaugural Hollywood Climate Summit Film & TV Marketplace to connect climate stories with acquisition and development opportunities.
