Yahoo News Jason Manford gets job offers from Iceland and Lidl after Tesco rejection
Jason Manford has been offered a job at Iceland after being turned down by rival supermarket Tesco.
The comedian, 38, applied for a position at Tesco amid the coronavirus pandemic, saying he was “trying to do my bit” as many stores struggled to meet increased demand from shoppers.
However, he revealed they had said no as the vacancy was closed.

Sharing his rejection letter on Twitter, Manford joked that he was “livid” that he hadn’t managed to get the position at a Tesco store in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

“I hope the better person got and enjoys the job, I’ll be watching,” he teased.
But the star’s efforts did not go unnoticed by other supermarket chains.
Iceland have tweeted that they would love to have the celeb on board.

Lidl also had an offer for the comic, tweeting a link to their current vacancies and referencing his role in the musical Curtains by saying: “Looks like it’s Curtains on your @Tesco career, Jason.
“Time to take A Different Stage, a Lidl stage.”

Many of Manford’s fans were impressed by his decision to apply to a supermarket to do his part in the national effort against the coronavirus, but some questioned whether it may be a joke.
However, the star set the record straight, tweeting: “For anyone else who thinks I was somehow taking the p***.
“I applied 7 weeks ago when it looked like supermarkets etc were going to need thousands of extra hands and I was recently unemployed (Curtains finished on the 16th) so wanted to feel useful.”
