A former British detective-turned private investigator has highlighted "a number of outstanding actions" in the ongoing case of Jay Slater, who disappeared on Tenerife. It's been two weeks since the 19 year old was last seen on June 17, and while Spanish police have ceased their physical search, they assure that their investigative efforts persist.

Despite the official search being suspended by authorities due to lack of evidence, the family of the Lancashire lad and volunteers are determined to continue the hunt. There's also intrigue surrounding two individuals reportedly seen with the Oswaldtwistle teenager on the night he vanished.

Mark Williams-Thomas, an ex-police officer turned television sleuth renowned for his role in unveiling the crimes of Jimmy Savile, has been actively involved in the case. He has spoken to key witnesses and gathered confidential details which offer a clearer view of the young bricklayer apprentice's final known whereabouts, reports the Mirror.

Commenting after the Spanish police's search operations come to an end, Mr Williams-Thomas remarked on Sunday evening: "Although the police search in the mountains and around Masca has concluded, the police investigation into Jay Slater's disappearance remains ongoing."

He further stated: "In regard to our investigation we have been able to speak to important witnesses and now have a very detailed picture of Jay's movements over the 16th and 17th, along with important background information. We still have a number of outstanding actions, but have given the family a preliminary breakdown of findings."

Jay's mother has confirmed funds from the £44,000 GoFundMe page set up to aid in locating the missing teenager are being used to fly family members out, as well as provide accommodation and food, as the search for the 19 year old enters its third week.

Mr Williams-Thomas continued: "In light of the police search ending, I have suggested the family should use the GoFundMe money to continue the search using experts in searching. I would appeal again, if you have any 'direct information' having spoken to Jay or anyone that was with him overnight 16/17th and have not yet been in contact please do so."

The latest update on the investigation into Jay's last known whereabouts comes after the Spanish authority's extensive search over the weekend failed to yield any new leads, leading some to label it a PR exercise. Jay's father Warren and older brother Zak visited the search site on Saturday and provided a fresh update from the family's perspective.

Despite being estranged, Warren, 58, maintains a good relationship with Debbie.

Discussing the search operation on Saturday, he expressed his disappointment: "It's a bit disappointing that there are no British apart from [British TikTokker] Paul, but I suppose to them he's just a British lad who's come out here and got drunk."
